Frequently Asked Questions

Artificial Grass Questions

How much does it cost to have artificial grass installed in Roseville?

Angi's 2026 data shows a typical project at $3,244 to $8,711. Published installed ranges run from about $5 to $25 per square foot depending on the turf and how much prep the yard needs. We give you a written price after measuring.

How much does 600 square feet of artificial grass cost?

Fixr lists 600 square feet at about $3,000 to $7,500 installed. Using HomeGuide's $10 to $25 per square foot, the same area would be $6,000 to $15,000. Hardpan drainage work, lawn removal and curves move the price within those ranges.

Does Roseville give a rebate for artificial grass?

Roseville's Cash for Grass program pays for replacing lawn with a water-efficient landscape and requires a pre-inspection before removal. Its published description does not list synthetic turf, so confirm eligibility with the city before you start.

Who makes the best artificial turf?

There is no single best brand. Look for UV-stabilized blades, a backing that drains well, a realistic thatch layer and a manufacturer warranty you can read before you buy. We bring samples from more than one product line so you can compare them in your own yard.

Is store-bought artificial grass worth it?

Home-center rolls can work for small DIY patches. For a whole lawn, the turf is only part of the cost; removal, grading, base rock and seaming are where most of the work and most of the problems are.

Will artificial grass drain on my Roseville lot?

It will if the base is built for it. Many south Placer lots have a hardpan that slows water, so we grade the base to move water out of the yard rather than counting on it to soak straight down.

Can my HOA say no to artificial grass?

California Civil Code Section 4735 bars HOAs from prohibiting artificial turf. They can still review color, product and layout, so we prepare the application materials with you.

Synthetic Lawn Installation Questions

Do you have to dig out my lawn first?

Yes. Leaving sod and roots under the turf leads to settling and soft spots. We remove the lawn and root layer before building the base.

What if my yard holds water in winter?

We slope the subgrade so water moves to an exit, and add a drain line where the yard has no natural outlet. That matters on hardpan lots.

How long does a synthetic lawn last?

HomeGuide puts quality artificial grass at 15 to 25 years with care. Strong sun and heavy use shorten it; a good base and regular brushing help.

Can you install around my existing trees?

Yes. We leave a ring around each trunk and switch the tree to drip so it keeps getting water after the lawn sprinklers are capped.

Dog Turf Questions

Will dog turf smell on a hardpan lot?

Not if liquid can leave the base. We slope the base to an exit, add a drain line in landlocked yards, and use odor-control infill. Regular rinsing does the rest.

Is artificial grass too hot for my dog in summer?

In direct afternoon sun it can be. Shaded areas work best; on sunny runs, rinse the turf before letting dogs out and provide shade.

What backing is best for pets?

A fully permeable, flow-through backing drains faster and more evenly than hole-punched backing, which helps with odor.

Can I use dog turf for a small potty area?

Yes. A small patch near the door, sloped to a drain point, is a common and affordable start.

Backyard Putting Greens Questions

How much does a backyard putting green cost in Roseville?

HomeAdvisor's 2026 data puts most backyard greens at $3,500 to $9,000, averaging about $4,300. Size, contours and fringe set the price; we quote after designing it with you.

Can I chip onto a synthetic green?

Yes. A firm green holds chips well, and a fringe of longer turf around it gives you a realistic landing area.

Will leaves ruin the roll?

Leaves slow the ball, so blow them off before you putt. Keeping the green out from under trees cuts the cleanup.

Can you add a green to my existing turf lawn?

Yes. We cut in a new section with its own precise base and blend the edges into the lawn.

Play Area Turf Questions

Is artificial grass safe under a swing set?

With the right shock pad under it, yes. The pad thickness is matched to how high a child could fall from the equipment.

Does play turf get too hot in summer?

It can in direct sun. Shade over the play area is the most effective fix; rinsing the turf cools it for a while.

Will play turf stay soggy after rain?

Not if the base is graded to drain. We slope the area so water runs off and out of the yard.

How does turf compare with wood chips?

Turf does not scatter, track inside or need regular topping up, and it gives an even surface. It costs more up front.

Commercial & HOA Turf Questions

Does AB 1572 make us install artificial grass?

No. It stops potable irrigation of nonfunctional turf. You can replace that grass with planting, mulch, hardscape or artificial grass.

Which of our lawns are nonfunctional?

Grass not used for recreation or community events, such as strips along streets, parking areas, buildings and signs. We help map your property.

Can you present to our HOA board?

We provide everything the board needs to review: specs, an area map, the bid and the schedule.

Will the work disrupt residents?

We phase the work and keep walkways, entries and parking open throughout.

How long does commercial artificial grass last?

Quality turf is rated for many years; HomeGuide cites 15 to 25 years for good residential turf with care. Heavy traffic shortens that, which is why we specify heavier commercial products and a deeper base in walkways.

Turf Repair & Refresh Questions

Can you fix artificial grass another company installed?

Yes. Much of our repair work is on lawns installed by others. We match turf as closely as possible for patches and correct the base underneath.

Why does my artificial grass puddle in winter?

Usually water cannot get out from under it, often because of hardpan soil with no drainage path. We regrade and add an outlet.

How do I get rid of pet odor in my turf?

Rinse often and use an enzyme cleaner. If the smell stays, the base is holding urine and needs to be replaced under the pet area.

Is a refresh cheaper than replacement?

Usually. A power brush and new infill cost far less than new turf, and can bring back matted areas if the turf itself is still in good shape.
